Efteling

Went to the Efteling yesterday.
Efteling is the largest and most popular theme park in The Netherlands, and one of the leading theme parks in Europe. It is also one of the oldest theme parks in the world. Efteling was opened in 1952.

Originally the park catered towards children with a fairy tale theme. Nowadays Efteling appeals to both young and old with its cultural, romantic and nostalgic themes and its variety of amusement rides. In over fifty years the park has evolved from a nature park with playground and a Fairy Tale Forest, into a full-size theme park along the lines of Disneyland. In 1992 Efteling received the IAAPA Applause Award for Best Amusement Park in the World.

I hadn't been in roughly ten years, so it was strange to see both how much had changed, but also how much was still the same. Weather predictions were quite bad, but it turned out great. I made quite a few photo's, but since most rides tend to move about, I could delete quite a few.

Dexter

Just watched the season finale of Dexter, the TV series based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I've never read the books, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised and quite hooked after watching just the first episode.

The title character, one Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall of Six Feet Under renown), works for the Miami PD as an blood spatter analyst. He has an avocation, too: during his off hours, he tracks down some very, very bad people who for various reasons have eluded the proper authorities. Seems his adoptive father, a cop himself, taught the kid how to channel his dark side in a "positive" direction; and so, having captured these evildoers, Dex dispatches them with clinical precision, thus making him a serial killer who snuffs serial killers.
The first season is now available on DVD. Can't wait for the second season to start!
