Cinema

My Tom Cruise boycott turned out to be very short lived, since I was invited to go to Mission: Impossible III yesterday. Though not terribly original, it's definitely one to see on the big screen. Here are some reviews and here's an interesting write-up.

Let's see, what else is new. Oh, Dutch painter Karel Appel died earlier this week. He is to be buried at the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. And ofcourse we're celebrating Bevrijdingsdag today, which is celebrated each year on May 5 in the Netherlands to mark the end of the German occupation during the Second World War.

Katatonia

Just got back from Katwijk where the Katatonia and Novembre concert took place. Though the sound could have been better, it was great seeing all my favourite Katatonia songs played live. I'd seen both bands opening for Opeth a few years ago, but that hadn't really stuck with me. Maybe because the last few Katatonia albums (released after that show) are my favourites of theirs. All in all a great night!

Happy birthday

My big brother turnes 30 today. Congratulations!

Offer

Contemplating an offer made to me earlier this week. I won't go into specifics, maybe in a few months. To quote from the Dune prequel:

Everything has its cost. We pay to create our future, we pay for the mistakes of the past. We pay for every change we make--and we pay just as dearly if we refuse to change.
Well, that's a bit overly dramatic. But you get the idea. And it's allowed, since I'm reading the Dune prequels at this very moment. Wouldn't it be cool if you could actually join the Bene Gesserit? They have such impressive skills.

Relax

Enjoying a nice long weekend because of Ascension. Still don't have a clue what is being celebrated / remembered on this day, but it's always nice to have a day of. ;-)

Might aswell look it up on Wikipedia:

The Christian doctrine of the Ascension holds that Jesus bodily ascended to heaven by His own power in presence of His disciples, following his resurrection.
So. There you have it. Now you know.

Vacuuming

I hate vacuuming. I always forget about it, untill it's really necessary and it irritates me for a few days. And by then it takes a big chunck out of the weekend to get things back to normal. Someone please buy me a Roomba, or better yet, a Roomba _and_ a Scooba!
