One of my ancestors originates from Sulawesi, he came to Holland on a slaveship in 1724, via South-Africa (Kaap de Goede Hoop) where he was sold to a Dutch widow. Apparently he was called Cupid, which later resulted in Valentijn. He was married, widowed, christened, remarried and eventually died on March 31 1769 in Enkhuizen. I would like to use my time-travelling device to check out those days, wouldn't you?
