Music

Just found out Discovery Civilisation has been added to the list of channels I can get. Cool. And even better news is that the order I placed earlier this week, already arrived this afternoon. So now I can add the following to my already too vast CD collection » Antimatter - Lights out; Aesma Daeva - Eros of frigid beauty; Green Carnation - Light of day, day of darkness; Coph Nia - Shape shifter; Stille Volk - Maudat; Mourning Beloveth - Dust; Mirrorthrone - Of wind and weeping; Sephiroth - Cathedron. I am happy. :-)

LVC

Just found out Keith Caputo will be playing LVC in september. Might be nice to check out.

Greed

I want a Zaurus. Shame they are so expensive. Sigh. But seriously, I've been interested in getting a PDA for a while now. Am a bit overwhelmed by the offerings though. Hope the PDA page at epinions can shed some light.

Authentication

Working on the authentication part for some maintenance type pages for the new version of this site. Found this usefull script, which I'm trying to insert in the fusebox setup, I currently have. We'll see.

Albums

Placed a new order with Displeased, where I get most of my cd's from. I've gone a bit overboard, but what the hell. Can't wait for it all to arrive!

IE

My parents returned home yesterday afternoon. Celebrated this with a nice meal. Wanted to try out BuyMusic.com with my Firebird, but was advised to download Internet Explorer instead. Sigh. Meanwhile, Paperclip Art looks quite creative. So if you have some time on your hands...

Browsers

Reading Browserdream, about the move from IE to other browsers.

Everything used to be better

album cover
Hermano certainly lived up to my expectations. Shame it only lasts 28 minutes and 3 seconds. Can't believe they can charge €12,50 for that. Sigh.

Town

Went into town after work to score the free Chocoglazen. I bet you're jealous now! Couldn't refuse the call of the recordstore and ended up buying Hermano's Only a Suggestion.

Albion

As you may or may not know, I have an interest for all things Arthurian. So I'm pleased to read about the movie King Arthur, which is currently in production. Atleast the story look a lot better than a number of previous attempts to bring this era to the screen.

Hurah

For those interested in accessibility, Joe Clark's book Building Accessible Websites is available online. Oh, and a happy birthday to my mom!

Leisure

Just as I thought I couldn't take anymore, the mercury dropped about 10°C in the last hour and there is actually some wind. I wonder when it'll start to rain. I've taken tomorrow and friday off from work, to enjoy some of the remaining days of solitude. And hopefully I'll get a chance to sleep. This warmth is not doing me any favours.

Standards & Priest

There's an interesting article on devedge over at Netscape.com, which is an interview with Mike Davidson of ESPN. All the details about their move to the implementation of webstandards. And concerning a very different topic, I also just read that Rob Halford has reunited with Judas Priest. Who would have thought.

Weather

Did I mention I'm not a summer type person? It's about 30°C now, and I'm sure it'll be warmer in the bus I take to get home. Sigh. Can't believe I'm talking about the weather again. I promise I won't. Well, unless it really annoys me. Just skip these weather bits, okay? Only 5 months and 6 days 'till winter.

Bzz

I hate bugs. I'm currently without an insect screen in front of my window, so I was kept up most of the night by the local wildlife, out for my blood. So now I'm covered with nice itchy bumps all over my arms and legs. Great. And to top things off, my arms were already red and itchy by a nice case of sun-allergy. Sigh. I hate summer.

Wonka

Gene Wilder as Wonka
Watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, whilst doing some gaming. Though I've seen it more times than I can remember, it still is great. I just found out about a remake that is in the making. Unfortunatly no details about casting are know as yet. Plenty of rumours though.

Heat

Took the bike to work today, instead of the bus, like I usually do. It's relatively nice weather and I needed some activity anyways. Unfortunately the nice temperature of 17°C in the morning, turned into 27°C in the afternoon. So you can imagine that wasn't to my liking. But hey, it's only 9km. My parents called earlier tonight. Just as I was about to eat, actually. They're near the Hungarian border, in Slowakia. All was well. Oh, and I'm excited to read there's going to be another follow-up to El Mariachi, called Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Nice cast.

Amazon

Read a few articles on the new Amazon Web Services, which seem to be everywhere since they opened everything up. This one on the PHP API was especially interesting.

Keywords

Only now did I discover the wonderful world of Bookmark Keywords in Mozilla Firebird. Very nice feature.

Leaving Arakis

Finished the final part of Dune yesterday afternoon, started with Dreamcatcher this morning. Weird to leave the comfortable world of Arakis, after spending so much time there, since I picked up part one in March of this year. Had a nice quiet sunday morning. Played some music, enjoyed the solitude of having the house to myself.

Goodies

Just as I was planning to spend this weekend doing something other than using the computer, I'm offered to borrow Warrior Kings, Monopoly Tycoon, Business Tycoon *and* a Playstation 2 for the next three weeks. I'd better accept my fate. Oh, and I bought Gothic Rock 2, which is a 2CD compilation, when I was in the city earlier this evening.

Camp

Found this post on Tranquillity Bay, which is a re-education camp for troubled kids. Shocking. Read it.

Geek stuff

Reading up on a few different things. One of them is MySQL FULLTEXT Searching, and though it's far from complete, I'd still like to use it for the new version of this site. Another thing I'm reading is the RDF Specification, because I'm also thinking of adding some more RSS features. Also because I'm going to try out Newmonster, which uses RSS.
