Guides

More LotR today. Check out the Nit-Pickers Guide to LotR and a Movie-goer's Guide to RotK.

Disappointments

Beautiful blue skies outside at the moment. But the forecast is not looking good. Snow, gusts of wind and more such fun are predicted for this afternoon. Nice. And ofcourse I'm here on my bike.
And I have even more disappointment to deal with, as I found out yesterday that the delivery of my diningroomtable is postponed once again, it should be here at the end of February now. They promised me I'd have it before christmas. Last year's christmas, that is. Sigh.

Oscar

The Oscar nominees are announced. Go LotR RotK!

Mortality

Dealing With Mortality: A Skeptic's Guide is quite fascinating. I'm sure everyone contemplates their mortality from time to time, though this can be a bit much.

Lark

Wheatfield with lark
The museum was great. Loads of tourist though. ;-) Bought a reproduction of Vincent's Wheatfield with lark, which will -hopefully- look great on an empty piece of wall which had been annoying me for a while now.

Vincent

Going to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam tomorrow. I love most of his work and though I've seen many of them in other museums, I've never been to this one before. Can't wait.

League

Finally! The League of gentlemen wil air on Dutch tv. It'll be on each week, starting next thursday. Memorise it, bribe someone to tape it for you, do what you must, but watch it!

Zen

I'm currently reading De Lege Spiegel (which translates to 'The Empty Mirror'), by J. van de Wetering. It's about his experiences in a Japanes Zenmonastry. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it reads very smooth. Inspiring.

Create!

Paper Craft makes my fingers itch.

Fiets

My new bike
There you have it. A photo of my brand new bike. Still all nice and shiny. It's a first for me. I've never owned a new bike. Only second hand ones. You might remember, I mentioned the problemes I was experiencing with my old one. Well, my parents called me on friday and mentioned they were in the hardware store, which had a sale. If I'd like one as an early birthday gift. Which isn't 'till 2 months. How sweet is that? So now it's mine. All mine!

Samurai

I enjoyed The Last Samurai, despite having read a bunch of negative reviews. And ofcourse I noticed a number of elements from other sources, like Shichinin no samurai, Shôgun and Braveheart. But who cares, I was entertained and that's usually why I tend to go to the cinema.

Rain...

Going to work is no picknick at the moment. I want this rain to stop! Plus I need to get my bike fixed. Or get a new one. I'm still not sure. Luckily my washingmachine got installed last weekend, so I'll be able to do all my washing myself. And I'm going to see The Last Samurai tonight. Looking forward to that.

Handwriting

Fontifier looks awesome! Now all I need is a scanner I can use...

Half forgotten memory

Winamp serves me with Temporary Peace by Anathema. That really is a beautiful song.

Quest

Didn't much feel like cooking, so I decided to drop by my favourite Italian, Sorrento. Unfortunatly they we're still closed at that time. Luckily one can always find an alternative, when living in the city. :-)

Monster Magnet

Monster Magnet is to release their new album next week. Heard they'll be playing the Wâldrock festival also. As they're one of the last remaining bands on my list of bands to see, it would be worth checking them out.

Design

Sometime, when I see certain things, I wish I could design stuff.

DVDs

Ordered a bunch of DVDs earlier this week. Got notified yesterday that the order is ready for pick-up, so I'm hoping to do that this afternoon. Yeah! Oh, and I found this, which is LotR Barbie. It's just to awful for words. Don't forget to zoom in on Aragorn's face. Blegh.

Media

Girl with a Pearl Earring poster
Second day back at work. Yesterday was hard. I could barely force myself to get out of bed. But life's slowly getting back to normal. Watched Girl with a Pearl Earring [IMDb] on Sunday. Very well done. Bit strange to see Delft and then hear people speaking English though.
I also listened to Dream Theater's latest album, Train Of Thought. And though I wasn't very impressed with some of their previous releases, I was pleasently surprised by this effort, and do recommend it. And I'm finally going to watch Children of Dune tonight. Look forward to that, since I read the series last year and am curious to see what they've done for the screen version.

Release

The new My Dying Bride album, Songs of Darkness, Words of Light, is due for release on February 16th. Definitely something to look forward to.

2004

Oh, almost forgot. A very happy new year to you and yours!

Storage

Went to the Kwantum earlier today, to buy the bookcase I'd seen a while ago. I now have more space than I have books. Didn't think that would ever happen. So, not like I needed one, but I now have another reason to bring my money to the bookstore. I also explored my new space. Think I'll use it for storage.
